We%26#39;re a 40-something couple getting married April 29th in DC. Our real honeymoon will be in November, but we want to get away for a 3 night getaway Sat-Mon on the Eastern Shore after our wedding. We%26#39;re targeting Kent Island and the surrounding areas.
Ideally we%26#39;re looking for non-hotel lodging, (maybe a vacation rental) that has a jacuzzi, kitchen (or at least a small fridge) and is clean %26amp; quiet.
We%26#39;re both into birding and hiking, so being near the water, marsh or woods is desired.
Before I contact some real estate agents about vacation rentals in the area, I wanted to see if anyone could recommend anything.
Thanks!
Looking for April getaway on Kent Island or Princess Anne...
It%26#39;s a little further than you%26#39;ve mentioned--about an hour after crossing the bridge--but Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge would be the perfect destination for birding and hiking upon which to base the rest of your getaway.

If you decide on Blackwater as your destination, your lodging focus then becomes Cambridge, about 12 miles away--you may want to re-post your lodging inquiry in that forum. Lots of lodging options there ranging from B%26amp;Bs to the upscale Hyatt. We%26#39;ve stayed at the Cambridge House B%26amp;B and it was excellent...you don%26#39;t have your own kitchen, but they%26#39;ve got a great hot tub in the backyard.
Congratulations!

Thanks for the Blackwater NWR suggestion. We plan to make it a day trip from Kent Island during our getaway.
Anyone else with Kent Island suggestions?
Thanks again!
I came across this place when I was looking for vacation rentals near the Chesapeake Bay. It looks great, I have never stayed here and don%26#39;t know what your budget is, but it might be worth your while to check it out. Have a hot tub and a whirlpool tub......great views, comes with bikes (near the Kent Island/Cross Island Bike Trail) and a canoe, etc. I am sure that they could provide references for you. They also have a cottage that is smaller, they might consider renting you the cottage since it is your honeymoon. Anyway, it can%26#39;t hurt to give them a call.

Good Luck and Congrats on your upcoming Wedding!
I don%26#39;t have any specific lodging in mind, but I recommend the Chestertown area. It is a lovely, historic waterfront town that caters to visitors, and it is very near the Eastern Neck National Wildlife Refuge., which is an unspoiled marshland island with great bird watching opportunities.
How about a nice B%26amp;B?
The Kent Manor Inn is lovely and the food is wonderful!

Historic Kent Manor Inn and Restaurant......this is the ONLY place to stay. The Inn is not a B%26amp;B as another review mentioned, but rather a 24 room hotel and each room room has it%26#39;s own private bath. They have a full service restaurant as well. It sits on a 200+ acre farm on a river off of the Chesapeake Bay. I bet you would get to see lots of birds. The people who work there are so friendly and willing to do anything you ask.
