I am looking for a nice restaurant option in Bethesda for a first date. Some place nice, not to loud so we can hear each other talk, nice atmosphere. Cost is not an issue.

For someplace fairly quiet, I%26#39;d suggest the big steakhouses (Ruth%26#39;s Chris or Morton%26#39;s). If you%26#39;d rather not go the carnivorous or chain route, also take a look at Tragara or Cafe Deluxe.

How about a smaller Italian or American restaurant.
I took my wife on our first date to La Panateria (on Cordell Avenue). It is small, very good Italian place that is quite and was a perfect venue to talk.
We have also enjoyed Parker%26#39;s (on Bethesda Avenue). It has a more tradionally American menu, but has neat decor and good service and atmosphere.
Enjoy!

This is probably not what your looking for, but I thought I would post. Me and my husband love Tommy Joes, next to the Hyatt. It is a small restaurant/bar that has a cool vibe, great food, and it is quit for dinner and drinks. Then if you feel up to it, they have music later on, and it gets alittle ';happy'; We love it and go there everytime we are in town.
Morton%26#39;s or La Panneteria would be my top picks. Tragara is also nice and is up there with Mortons.
I would choose Jaleo. You need enough noise so you can%26#39;t hear the eavesdroppers snicker while they listen to first date conversation.
