Safe to walk?

I%26#39;ve got two more questions ...

1) My bf and I are planning to hang out at Seacret%26#39;s Jamaica Saturday night - which I see is on 49th St - and will be staying at a hotel around 3rd St. I know that%26#39;s at least a 3 mile walk, and we%26#39;re up for it, but we%26#39;re concerned about walking back to our hotel late on Saturday after midnight.

Is it safe to walk that entire stretch and so late at night? Is it well lit? I know the majority will be possible to walk on the boardwalk (at least I think it is), but we have no clue if this is a bad idea so late at night or not. Just want to drink, not a ton of drinking, but some, and don%26#39;t want to drink and drive back to our hotel.

2) I%26#39;m really interested in going to Assateague Island for a brief visit, but we will have to enter in a car since we don%26#39;t have bikes and no room to store rented ones either. Does anyone have any recommendations - better to take a drive through or get out and walk a path?

I don%26#39;t know if we would see much if we walked because I%26#39;m not sure how much ground we could cover if we don%26#39;t have much time to spare, but I love nature walks so I%26#39;m more prone to choose to walk. However .. I%26#39;d really love to snatch a peak of one of the wild horses. I know this isn%26#39;t the right season to visit, probably, but it%26#39;s the only opportunity we have.

Thanks again for anyone%26#39;s help!!!

Safe to walk?

1) Safe to walk--in terms of crime/security, you should be fine. But the Coastal Highway traffic is dangerous any time of year and there are no alternative routes to speak of until you make it to the north end of the Boardwalk. You only have to cross the highway once, but please be extra careful when crossing ALL the intersections, especially if you%26#39;ve been drinking.

2) I say drive all the way through to start, and take one walk on the beach side and another towards the interior of the island. The island is beautiful, and the two walks will give you the full effect of what there is to see, even if they%26#39;re fairly brief. You will likely see a few horses while driving or on a walk towards the interior.

Safe to walk?

Take the bus. Ocean City’s municipal bus that travels along Coastal Highway 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Buses are safe, clean, reliable, and convenient. A Ride-All-Day pass allows you to ride from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 a.m. the next morning.

If you are up for the walk then safety should not be a concern.

You can head south along the Coastal Highway from Seacrets 49th street and then either cross at 26th and head over to the Boardwalk OR stay on the Coastal Highway south to 3rd.

Depending on the weather at night it might be cool for such a walk.

Bring something warm for night travel.

Other options as suggested take the bus either one way or both ways. It runs right along the Coastal Highway.

Take the bus up and then hop a cab back. Normally they will have a cab stand outside Seacrets in the evening just walk out and hop in.

Just use caution when crossing the Coastal Highway as it is several lanes in each direction and traffic can be heavy and move fast.

As for a trip to see the ponies you can either drive through or park your car and take a walk. As you enter on the left you will have the oceanfront areas over the sand dunes and then along the right you will hit a few turn offs into areas along the bayside.

You should be able to find free parking in one of the several lots and then take a walk to the ocean or bayside whichever you decide or both.

The ponies have a mind of their own somedays they will be along the main road waiting to say HI and other times they are hiding. All depends how your luck is running.

Depending on the weather it can require a drive through visit or if the weather is nice you can take a walk through.

Have a safe and enjoyable trip.

What part of Jersey????

Ride the bus it is always a laugh on the bus when others who have been drinking get on. Not a dule moment. But if you still wish to walk, should have no problem, just watch for the traffic. Check the bus schedule from the other post and see if they go to the island, it%26#39;s a possibility.

Thanks again for everybody%26#39;s help!! Much appreciated!
