The reviews are not that great but I%26#39;m wondering if the location makes up for not having alot of amenities? Is it close to anything worth walking to? Thanks in advance.
Anyone stayed at the Ocean Voyager recently?jgr,
A lot depends on what appeals to you, you may need to provide more information. For example, Ocean Voyager is a stone%26#39;s throw from Jolly Roger Amusement Park. For some, that%26#39;s something worth walking to. If amusement parks don%26#39;t appeal to you, it won%26#39;t mean anything to you. Same thing if you%26#39;re with kids who are McDonald%26#39;s junkies, it%26#39;s also right there.
Another example: We stay within walking distance to a large park with a lot of greenspace (Northside) that our kids love, so it%26#39;s a great location...for us. There%26#39;s nothing else like it in the city. But if our kids were total Boardwalk junkies and had to be there every day, that%26#39;s eight miles away and where we%26#39;re staying becomes a ';terrible'; location.
Ocean City is now so commercially developed that--no matter where you stay in the city (along Coastal Highway, Baltimore or Philadelphia Avenue)--you%26#39;re easy walking distance to the core things you might need and general interest activities...the beach, a grocery store, miniature golf course, place to buy beer/wine, beach supply shop, pizza/sub shop, a selection of decent restaurants. The area around Ocean Voyager is no exception.
I guess what I%26#39;m saying is to judge the hotel itself on its own merits http://tinyurl.com/hyada. Without more specific input from you on your interests, there%26#39;s nothing that would make this particular location better or worse than any other.
Anyone stayed at the Ocean Voyager recently? All I can say is check the room before you pay...it was probably one of the worst places I%26#39;ve seen. I am not that picky but I couldn%26#39;t stay there. The smell hits you as soon as you open the door.. There are so many other options in OC that are reasonable and much better than Ocean Voyager. Check out the Empress or the Sahara--they are both in a great locatiion and reasonable and especially the Empress is CLEAN. We stayed there the first week of August.
OV at Ocean City. --stayed during bike week last fall. The room was nasty (really). The bathroom was really clean. (really!) . Bring the Lysol, room deodorizers and your own bedding, BUT, we had the best time!
The other patrons and the hotel staff are great, and once you get past the smell and if you can get past that, you%26#39;ll have a great time. We are going back next year and already have reservations. The location is great and the little snack bar restaurant next door is the best! Necessity store right across the road. No need to take the car out at all. Just close your eyes and pretend you are back at high school beach week at the cheapest place near the beach. You%26#39;ll have a great time. But, bring the Lysol...
Built in the early 60%26#39;s as the Yankee Clipper.
You%26#39;d smell nasty too if you were that old.
