Accompanying bf on a long weekend to Maryland over Easter, April 5-8. He%26#39;s fishing somewhere off Havre de Grace on Friday. Need suggestions for a quiet, decent place to stay Thursday evening (b%26amp;b, inn, ?) in HdeG and a destination further south for Friday and Saturday evenings.
Havre de Grace and south
Try the Clef d%26#39;Or (sp?) beautifully decorated and wonderful innkeeper. A larger B %26amp;B is the Vandiver Inn, haven%26#39;t stayed there but had an excellent meal in there dinning room. For food try Laurpin Grill in downtown Havre de Grace or on Route 40 Aquatica- don%26#39;t be put off by the exterior, the food is excellent.
What do you mean by further south on Friday and Saturday? Baltimore?
Havre de Grace and south
0106,
Thanks for the suggestions. We were thinking more off the beaten path Fri/Sat, rather than Baltimore, and near the water...maybe St. Michael%26#39;s or Tilghman Island? I also found something called the Lowes Wharf Inn which sounds interesting; would you know anything about it? I should mention that we%26#39;re both in our 50%26#39;s and just looking to relax, so nightlife doesn%26#39;t matter.
If you are heading to Tilghman Island Knapps Narrows is a very nice place to stay. Ask for one of the new rooms that overlook the marina.
HDG...Vindivier Inn is very nice.
I%26#39;ve spent spent some time on MDs Eastern shore (it sounds like that%26#39;s where you%26#39;d like to head) but I%26#39;m not very familiar with accomodation options. If you%26#39;re from NJ a nice option might be to go to Lewes DE, I%26#39;m sure there are some nice B %26amp; Bs and then take the ferry to Cape May to get home. My husband and I often take the ferry simply to avoid 95 and relax.
Thanks all, particularly for the suggestions on where to stay in HdeG.
I was wandering around on the internet (after I looked at a map and realized how far south Tilghman Island and St. Michael%26#39;s are) and came across a town called Rock Hall, and a b%26amp;b there called (I think) the Black Duck Inn. Any words of wisdom on the destination or the inn, or other suggestions if anyone%26#39;s familiar with the town?
Rock Hall is a small town right on the Chesapeake Bay. It was historically a fishing / waterman town. If you do stay in Rock Hall, I would suggest saving some time to stop in Chestertown, which you almost have to drive through to get to Rock Hall. Chestertown is on the Chester River and has some awesome old houses along the river and a quaint downtown area.
Rock Hall is a wonderful old fishing town. The Moonlight Bay Inn was super and Watermans Crab House is a MUST!
Super! Rock Hall sounds like a winner (with a side trip to Chestertown). Thanks everyone. And, happy to entertain any further suggestions.
