A Sunday night dinner in Baltimore

Hi, My husband and I will be staying at the Marriot Waterfront to visit our college age son, for one night, as we travel home to NY from a trip to the west coast. The timing will be tight because our flight%26#39;s not scheduled to arrive until 6:00 pm. By the time we gather our luggage and check into the hotel, etc. we will need simple, uncomplicated plans for an 8:00/8:30 dinner near the hotel. My son and husband like seafood, steak, salad bar type food, so I thought the Rusty Scupper might be our best bet. I%26#39;d like to keep the price somewhat moderate. Please advise me if there is a better, or more convenient option.

Thank you,

Jane

The food and service at Rusty Scupper is average on a good day. They aren%26#39;t worth the price.

I would recommend McCormick and Schmick%26#39;s or Houlihan%26#39;s. They are both located at the Inner Harbor, have great food and terrific service.

You are staying in a newly revitalized area known as Inner Harbor East. James Joyce, an Irish pub with excellent food, is next to your hotel. There are several other casual places in the immediate area. It is an easy walk to Little Italy, I recommend Amicci%26#39;s for casual food. They have an extraordinary shrimp appetizer. Fells Point is as close as the Rusty Scupper (which I don%26#39;t recommend). Check out John Stevens for excellent seafood.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my inquiry. I will definitely look into each of the suggestions that were offered.

I ate at John Stevens in Fells Point when my husband and I were in Baltimore this past November and it was excellent. We shared some very tasty mussels as an appetizer. I had a delicious filet of mahi mahi and my husband loved his seafood pasta - his was really great with large shrimp, scallops and jumbo lump crabmeat. Just wanted to mention that the table next to us ordered crabcakes and they were HUGE - and looked wonderful. When we go back to Baltimore, I%26#39;m definitely getting those crabcakes next time. I can%26#39;t remember if there was steak on the menu, there might have been one beef offering, but it is definitely more of a seafood place. Nice atmosphere in the back dining room - casual and comfortable. If memory serves me correctly, the entrees were pretty much under $20, which for seafood is great. Highly recommend this local gem.
