eastern shore weekend/gay friendly

I am thinking of a weekend on the Eastern shore with my husband, my sister and her female partner for my 40th birthday. I am wondering if you have any special suggestions regarding places to stay. I would like to have a few days of biking or kayaking and don%26#39;t need much. But last time went to a B and B in Virginia and drove in to a large cross on the lawn which was nowhere on the web photos. In each room they had bibles and books by James Dobson (conservative Focus on the Family). Don%26#39;t want that ever again! Was thinking about the Parsonage Inn in St. Michael%26#39;s or something in Chestertown. any thoughts?

I know it is not in Maryland, but have you considered Rehoboth Beach Delaware? They have a large gay population who both own businesses and vacation their and are known for their acceptance.

Have you been to Chincoteague? It%26#39;s not as glamorous as Rehobeth, but is the place to be if you want to ride your bikes to the beach, stalk eagles, and just relax. I believe there is a gay-owned B%26amp;B on main street. I also recommend The Refuge hotel near the entrance to the Assateague Wildlife Refuge -- you can bike right to the beach.

chicoteague sounds more my speed and I found the B and B you are talking about. thanks for the tip.

Great kayaking there as well. Although not cheap, you will find it will be much less expensive %26amp; prententious than St. Michaels, although certainly not nearby.

Chestertown would by far be the least expensive %26amp; ';touristy'; than the other two, with great kayaking on the Sassafrass (I understand there is a heron rookery you can visit only by small boat) but can%26#39;t advise on accomodations there.

Crisfield MD is another non-touristy east shore town you may want to take a look at...

best wishes
