Looking for relaxing home rental with dog/kids

We would like a cabin style home, sleep 6 with a dog somewhere in Maryland for 4 nights beginning April 14th. Would like to be able to do some light hiking, fish from shore, swim in a heated pool, hot tub and dine out, but also would like some privacy.

Someone reccomended Oakland, but that is pretty far from Connecticut. Anywhere a little closer??

I really have no clue where to start....

Thanks

-Mike

Well Maryland isn%26#39;t that big. We have several areas to choose from.

go to www.maryland.gov and look under travel and recreation. There is a listing of everything that you would want to do in maryland and the locations.

Thanks Mrsmaryland. The thing is, I have NO idea where to go in Maryland. I always find suggestions based on other%26#39;s past experience a good place to start.

For example, I could see a place online that looks great and exactly what I am looking for, but because I do not know what questions to ask, I get there and find it%26#39;s in a horrible location, or the lake is private property and we can%26#39;t fish, or the nearest grocery store is actually 20 miles away...I guess I just am looking for some guidance.

It%26#39;s my experience that anywhere in Maryland secluded enough to sleep six with a dog and fishing is going to be far removed from a grocery store. If your goal is to fish and stay away from everything, you might explore the Deep Creek Lake area in Marylands mountains. If you aren%26#39;t tied to Maryland, try somewhere off skyline drive in Virginia. I%26#39;ve had luck finding great rentals on this website:

www.mountain-lodging.com. Find a place on the Shenandoah River and relax!

I%26#39;ll check it out..thanks heathery.

please let us know what you find!

deep creek lake area is very beautiful...has the hiking %26amp; fishing, but as i know , dogs are always a problem...

not sure what the catoctins or rocky gap has to offer in the way of rentals, but they%26#39;re pretty areas. i have little to no experience when it comes to looking for rental homes....but i%26#39;d love to hear what you end up finding.

The Deep Creek area which is down the road from Oakland will give you everything you are asking for and more. Deep Creek is a resort town located in the mountains of Western Maryland and it is absolutely gorgeous! We rent a house there every year with a group of friends and have a great time.
