Ideas needed!

Hey there!! We%26#39;re vacationing in OC starting July 9th. We%26#39;re coming from downstate NY and would like to leave the day before and visit/stay over someplace before driving the rest of the way to OC on the 9th. Does anyone have any ideas where we can stop and visit on the way down to OC from downstate NY?? Any suggestions would be helpful!! Thank you!!

Where exactly is downstate NY?

What town or area?

One suggestion I have is perhaps you take the Garden State Parkway all the way south to Cape May NJ it is a nice town for a day visit and then take the ferry over to Lewes De. and a short ride by car from there to OC.

You can find the schedule for the ferry along with the cost on the web site and take a look for information on Cape May.

You could make this same trip to any area along the Jersy shore for one night and then a ferry ride to OC.

Good luck and have a safe trip.

It depends which way you are going and where you are coming from. We live in New City, Rockland County and have been going to OC for 20 yrs. If you go down the garden state and take the ferry, you can stay at various seaside locations along the way (might be expensive for one night) or you can stay as suggest in Lewes.

If you go down the Turnpike and go over the Memorial Bridge to Deleware, there is not a lot going on or places to see. By the time you got to any worthwhile stop, you might as well keep going to OC.

For us drive time with traffic and a stop or two is 250 miles, around 5.5 hours. Depending on where you are coming from I suggest an early start with a few stops along the way and make your trip within the day.
