Special Event?

My husband and I are planning on visiting Annapolis during a trip to Washington, D.C. We were planning on spending two nights in Annapolis on July 12 and 13 but as I check for hotel prices, many are showing up with no rooms available, especially on Friday, July 13. Is there something special going on this weekend that would create large crowds and low availability?

Would there be a better time to visit (we will be in the D.C. area from about July 10 - 20)?

Thanks for any insight you can offer.

barkley,

Can%26#39;t locate any exact information for that weekend, but Plebe Summer at the Naval Academy begins around then...I%26#39;m guessing the town is full of proud parents saying goodbye to their kids before a summer of incredibly hard work...

It works out better that way anyway...DC is quieter on the weekends in summer as the major employer shuts down during weekends...and vacations through much of July anyway...although the city is full of travelers.

Shoot up to Annapolis during the week...when it%26#39;s quieter and hotel rates cheaper. The Loew%26#39;s shows $169 during the week...and if you are flying into BWI, Annapolis would be a convenient place to depart from...
