Dog Friendly OC

My husband and I will be taking our dog to Ocean City this weekend. We are already booked at Parrot Lagoon.

Can anyone suggest things to do with him other than of course swimming and walking on the boardwalk? We plan to take him to Assateague for one day to the National Seashore.

Can you suggest places to get something to eat that will be open? We will of course need places we can get good carry-out food. I imagine we will probably be somewhat limited, and will be eating a lot of french fries and pizza etc. Does anyone know of any restaurants with outside seating that will allow a well behaved dog in the outside area?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the recomendations!

assateague%26#39;s an excellent place to take a dog...we used to camp there with ours quite often!

not so familiar with OC anymore...but if you feel like taking a drive up to delaware one day...there are SEVERAL very nice state parks where dogs are allowed on the trails....a couple sections of cape henlopen state park in particular.

and in downtown rehoboth beach, there are two places i know of that allow dogs in their outside seating areas....';arena%26#39;s'; and ';cafe sole';, both located between rehoboth avenue %26amp; baltimore st. in the little walkways. they even provide drinking water for the dogs :-)

although dogs are not allowed on the beach or boardwalk during the ';season'; in rehoboth...it%26#39;s still a very dog-friendly town. check out ';browseabout books';....it has a ';dog drinking station'; outside the door, dogs are welcome inside....ditto for '; critter beach';, a shop that caters to pets %26amp; their owners. and just south of rehoboth is dewey beach, where during the season...dogs ARE allowed on the beach after 5 pm.

oh...and of course, you said THIS weekend....so in dewey...dogs allowd on the beach ANY time still!

caveat: re dewey beach....

dogs on the beach are ';required'; to have a town license. available at the town hall, costs $5 for the life of the dog, proof of rabies vaccine required.

i know that when this law was first enacted, a couple people were fined heavily...people whose dogs had drawn complaints from other beach-goers.

that said...i got my two licenses the minute the law was enacted...years ago. so early that they are #18 %26amp; 19. never ONCE have i been questioned.
