We%26#39;re from NJ and usually go to Wildwood Crest for vacation, but have decided to try Ocean City, MD this year. We will be traveling with our 16 yr old son %26amp; his friend. Any information on good places to stay, eat %26amp; will there be enough things to do? Are there any water parks?
Visiting summer 2007My boyfriend and I are heading back to OCMD this summer this is like our 5th time there!! We love it! We are from Jersey too (south shore area). Our favorite restaurant is Bellybusters which is on 45th Street, OMG we love it, best crabs in OCMD! We always go to Seacrets I’m just not sure if they have an age limit for day time, the beach area is tons of fun. When are you going? Phillips on the boardwalk was pretty good. They up opened one down here in AC @ the Pier at Caesars Casino, the DoughRoller is always good for breakfast. I would compare that to like our I Hop or Denney’s. I am looking for a good hotel also, we normally stay at the Ramada, but are looking for something different this year. We like this part of town!! Keep me informed if you find out any other info!!

Some useful information regarding OC
Thanks for your suggestions. What about teenagers - is there much for them to do? My son loves roller coasters, the bigger the better. He loves Great Adventure and of course the boardwalk in Wildwood. Is Ocean City for younger kids, or can teens have a good time also?
Plenty for teenagers to do. The good thing is that teenagers that age can roam up and down the length of the boardwalk alone and it%26#39;s safe and convenient. There are amusements, games. shops, all the noraml beach stuff. There is a trolley that rides up and down for a fee if you get tired of walking. There are amusements off the boardwalk as well and you can take the bus that goes up and down Coastal Highway from one end to the other [ was $2 for all day pass but who knows with price of gas }. There are go karts, movies, mini golf, water slides but no big ';waterpark'; etc. You don%26#39;t say what your price range is and the oceanfront boardwalk condos/ efficiencies are very pricey in the prime summer time. That would most convenient with your teens. There are MANY , MANY ocean front condos past the boardwalk as well as hotels/ motels. Too numerous to mention without a price range. I would check out the chamber of commerce site under accomadations and then check this site for opinions on specific hotels or condos. Also check VRBO- their prices may be less than real estate co%26#39;s or hotel chains.
They have a pretty decent waterpark at the Jolly Roger Amusement aprk at 28th st bayside.
There%26#39;s also a under 21 club down by the inlet area that they could hang out at at night...sorry but I can%26#39;t recall the name.
From 6 am-10 am they can rent bikes and cruise up and down the boardwalk.
I forget what street it%26#39;s on but there%26#39;s a Lazer-Tag game place they might want to check out.
When you get to whatever hotel you%26#39;ll be staying at grab a visitors guide. It has ton%26#39;s of things advertised to do.
As far as a place to stay, what is your budget? If money is no real object then I%26#39;d highly recommend the Holiday Inn at 17th st and boardwalk. It has an indoor pool, and 2 outdoor pools, a small restaurant/bar and is close to alot of the attractions on the boardwalk.
As far as accomodations, we will need a place with either 2 bedrooms or at least 1 separate bedroom that has a living room with a pull out couch. A lot of the places I have looked at say they%26#39;re efficiencies, but it seems that the rooms are not separated by walls. As far as budget, we don%26#39;t want to spend more than $200 a night. Is this possible, or am I dreaming? Will we end up back in Wildwood?

This place offers different rooms with separate bedrooms and pull out sofas.
Oceanfront, reasonable rates, and good reviews.
I would opt for a room NOT near the pool area as it might get a littloe to much noise to relax.
Hope this helps you out.
Will pass along any other options.
tidelands caribbean hotel has 2 room effecienties :-)
I go to OC at least 5 times a year. It%26#39;s awesome - Wildwood doesn%26#39;t compare.
We usually get our reservations from here:

I think I got that site from the Chamber of Commerce originally.
There%26#39;s tons to do for all ages.
You have to eat at Phillips at least once. And make sure you get some Thrasher%26#39;s fries on the boardwalk.
The boardwalk goes up to 26th street, so if you want to be on it, make sure your hotel is below 27th. (2700 Atlantic Ave if they say it that way).
You may be interested in taking the ferry from Cape May to Rehoboth on the way down. It%26#39;s fun and different.
If you do, make sure you call at least 1 day ahead and reserve a spot on the ferry. If you don%26#39;t, then you have to wait in line and sometimes it can be hours. If you reserve, they let you cut to the front of the line. I%26#39;m not even sure if you need a time slot, but you MUST call 24 hours ahead or they won%26#39;t give you a spot.
I have never had a bad hotel in OC, but I%26#39;ve heard stories from a few people - I guess it depends on whether you%26#39;re there for fun or to complain. The Tidelands and the Castle in the Sand are both good (mentioned in previous posts). I have stayed in both.
