Ocean City vs. Myrtle Beach

Hello All, We%26#39;ve been going to myrtle for many years now. Its great down there but thought maybe we%26#39;d try something different this year. Anyone been to both places and want to comment on which is better. OC seems like it would be a really good time. Thanks for your help

Ocean City vs. Myrtle Beach

Just search for MrsMaryland%26#39;s posts and you will get lots of ';unbiased'; reviews of each resort area.

Ocean City vs. Myrtle Beach

Haha yea I saw that. I%26#39;m going to go with what other people are saying instead. Don%26#39;t really want to become part of that argument lol.

I go to Ocean City every summer and it is my favorite place to vacation at. I haven%26#39;t been to Myrtle, but I have looked at one of there guides and it looked like a very nice town to vacation at. I heard almost every hotel has a lazy river/waterpark. Not every hotel in Ocean City has a lazy river/waterpark, but there are some that do. Here are the hotels if you want to check them out:

Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites-17st Oceanfront

Hilton Suites/Resort-It is either at 31st or 33rd st, Oceanfront

Comfort Suites-West Ocean City

Francis Scott Key-West Ocean City

go to this website-www.ocean-city.com, it has all the info you could possibly need. The website doesn%26#39;t show everything in Ocean City though.

Ocean City is basically the same as Myrtle Beach, lots of waterparks, amusement parks, museums, go-karts, high rise buildings,mini-golf, hotels, motels, restaurants, shopping, etc. And also, if you want a better boardwalk, Ocean City is the 3rd best boardwalk in america by the Travel Channel, 4th cleanest beach in the WORLD, All American City 2001, White Marlin Capitol Of the WORLD, rated by Parents and Family Fun Magazine as the best family oriented places to vacation at, and it is the East Coast%26#39;s Number 1 Family Resort.

I have been to both many many times. I prefer OC because of the boardwalk and they clean the beach every night. They go out with special trucks and vaccum the beach every night.

Ocean City is much more compact than Myrtle Beach. You can do the whole area much easier. That being said, it also can seem alot more crowded in the summer. Ocean City doesn%26#39;t have as many big name restaurants (like Planet Hollywood, Hard Rock, etc...) or as many golf courses (regular or mini). It does have lots to do, a great beach, boardwalk, restaurants, bars and shops. It would probably be a shorter drive for you! :)

I agree with what Wavelets had to say. I have been to both resorts several times and I will say that Myrtle is beautiful, but we had to drive to everything. In Ocean City, we stay on 19th street on the boardwalk and rarely move our car. The ocean is much warmer (and I think calmer) in Myrtle Beach, but the beach is wider and kept clean because of the nightly beach combings in OC. We really enjoy the boardwalk in Ocean City, as well as the shorter drive time for us (7 hours vs. 12 hours to Myrtle). The hotels are generally smaller, but there are a few (expensive ones) with lazy rivers and fancier pools like those in Myrtle Beach. I would say that overall Ocean City is more expensive than Myrtle, from the hotels to the restaurants, although Myrtle%26#39;s prices seem to rise each time we go there.

Mink,

I completely forgot about that whole MrsMaryland fiasco!!! hahaha. Thanks for that reminder. Wonder whatever happened to her anyway?!?!

TazMan1,

I%26#39;ve never been to Myrtle Beach but I LOVE Ocean City. Definitely something for everyone. Let us know what you decide.

I have not been to myrtle either but do love OCMD, and there%26#39;s even some donut shops. lol

I guess I missed the mrsmaryland saga but if she shows up here she might snap out that we%26#39;re talking about her, LOL.

I%26#39;ve been to both many times. You have to list your criteria in order for us to know which would be ';better'; for you.

MB, Grand Strand is kindofa ';mega'; resort with pretty much anything you could want within a short drive.

The MD, DE and NJ resorts are all smaller, and each has it%26#39;s own flavor. I think OCMD is arguably the most similar to MB, but on a smaller scale %26amp; minus the world class golf. Very few of the hotels can equal the pool facilities that you pretty much expect in MB but for the same bucks or more. Fewer upscale chain stores %26amp; restaurants, but enough local %26amp; regional places to make up for it. Better beaches, better waves, great nightlife and the boardwalk are just a few of OCMD%26#39;s advantages, but it%26#39;s all in what you%26#39;re looking for.

The major difference is you can get great rates AND 80 degree weather in MB into October. We spent a week in MB last October-sunny and 80 all week. Oceanfront effeciency for 60-something a night. Depends when you will be going and how much $$$ you%26#39;re willing to spend. Haven%26#39;t been to OCMD since childhood, but from reading here, its pricey.
