Is it worth it

We will be arriving in Baltimore on Monday from the U.K, would it be practical to visit Philadelphia for a day, or would you reccommend a few days?. What would be the best mode of transport to use to get there from Baltimore, all options considered, and lastly what would be the travelling time on these various options.

Philadelphia is a great city with a multitude of things to see and do. I would suggest a 2 day trip. I would also suggest just renting a car. The drive would be approximately 2 hours depending on traffic but it is a straight shot up interstate 95 north. I would also suggest a day and/or few day trip to Washington D.C., the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Delaware and Western Maryland. All are wonderful spots to visit.

You can hit the major highlights of Philadelphia in a day, but it%26#39;s a big city well worth an overnight or two...plenty to see and do.

As for the ';best'; mode of transport, it%26#39;s obviously subject to opinion. Although the trip by car is fairly short, it%26#39;s not very interesting, just motorway for the most part. And once there you would pay to park at most hotels in the city, sometimes quite a bit.

You might consider taking the train. You can find fares and schedules at amtrak.com

personally...if i were coming from the UK %26amp; having to adjust to driving on the other side of the road...i%26#39;d take the train. 95 is horrible anyway, you really don%26#39;t want to be driving it if you can avoid it.

if you caught a train early in the morning, one day might be enough depending on what you want to do exactly...then catch a late train back. depends what you want to see %26amp; do.
