We just got back from our first trip to Ocean City. We were there from 5/28 to 5/30. We stayed at the Hilton Suites Oceanfront and had a fantastic time!
The hotel is just over a year old and looks like it. All areas of the hotel were beautifully maintained. The suite was awesome! We were on the 10th floor so we had amazing views of the beach… The suite had a living room, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and a balcony with a table and chair set. There were huge LCD TVs in both the living room and the bedroom, so the kids could watch cartoons before bed and we could watch grownup TV in the bedroom.
The first night we were in town, we ordered room service from the Hilton’s in house restaurant 32 Palm. The food was great. We brought our own breakfast foods so we took advantage of the fully stocked kitchen.
The kids absolutely loved the children’s pool, and we spent a lot of our time there. And when they weren’t in the pool, we were down at the beach playing in the surf and collecting sea shells. The water was a little bit cold, but once you were in it for awhile you got used to it. The weather on Tuesday was beautiful and the water even seemed to be a bit warmer.
We walked to the boardwalk and made it down pretty far before the kids started crying because they were too tired. We turned back and noticed on the way back that many of the shops were closed. It was after 5 on Memorial Day. I wonder if that had anything to do with it.
Tuesday we went for lunch at Higgins Crab House, which was very close to our hotel. For $90, hubby had the “All You Can Eat” crabs and ribs dinner, and since I’m not a seafood person, I had the ribs platter, and the boys had meals from the children’s menu. The food was good and so was the service. However none of us ate enough to make us feel that it was worth the $90, but we expected as much and realize that you pay for the food as well as the experience, so we weren’t terribly disappointed!
Overall it was a great trip and we definitely plan to go back.
