things to do with kiddos in OC

Our three children will be 3.5, 10 and almost 16 when we visit from 8/11-8/18. We rented a condo (bayside, off 28th).

Other than the beach which we all love, do you have any recommendations on things our children would enjoy? Normally we visit Old Orchard Beach, ME every summer but we were looking for something new and different... OCMD, here we come!

OMG, you%26#39;ve got to be kidding me! Just search this forum some.

Arcades, amusement parks, water parks, jet skis, assateague boat tours, pirate ship tours, speed boat tours, mini-golf, go-karts, parasail, playgrounds, skate parks, fishing, crabbing...

Here you go:

head over the route 50 bridge (west, since you are leaving OC), and after about a half mile head east on route 611 (Assateague National Seashore)...611 ends out at Assateague (you will be on 611 for about 8-10 miles)....Assateuague has fantastic, undeveloped beaches, great walking and biking trails, and abundant wildlife...deer and wild horses are all over the place...not to mention beautiful birds

Gee, thanks for the help. (rolling my eyes) I KNOW there%26#39;s a lot to do in OC. This is why we booked a place there. I%26#39;m looking for help in narrowing it down.

I was looking for subjective advice from travelers or residents with children my ages who may have a specific recommendation (such as ';your 10-year old would love ______!'; or ';your teen can%26#39;t miss this ______!';). And, any mid-August happenings that may not be posted on the major websites.

If you can%26#39;t say anything helpful... then don%26#39;t say anything at all!!

Snide comments don%26#39;t help!

That said, thank you for your second post. And thanks to the most recent poster with their positive thoughts about Assateague wildlife.

i didn%26#39;t think mink meant to be snide...

that said, i second everything said so far..

especially assateague! the wildlife is amazing %26amp; the wild ponies are a real treat!

just do NOT feed or approach them....especially with the littler kids. there are idiots every year who think it%26#39;s fun to try to get a picture with their 2 year old %26amp; a pony...

these are WILD ponies....they are perfectly capapble of biting or kicking!

Sorry about the ';snideness';, but if you go back to your original post, one could easily read into it that you didn%26#39;t have one single clue about the activities available in OCMD.

It%26#39;s a personal pet peeve, but I get tired of what I perceive to be ';lazy'; people who refuse to do any research on a topic and then come to a message board like this one post the same question that has already been posted a 100 times before.

Now, if you would have worded the original question with something like...

';I know there are a ton of activities for kids in OC and with only 5 full days to try and do as much as possible, does any one have any highly recommended, ';do not miss'; kind of activities that I should definitely do with my 3.5, 10, and almost 16 year old while we are there?';

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

One activity, that was not mentioned already, that I always enjoyed as a youngster in OC and still do today is getting up in the morning, renting bicycles, and riding up and down the length of the 2.5 mile boardwalk.

Once you get into town, grab some of the free local papers that can be found at almost any grocery, convenience, or drug store in OC for more ideas and also coupons to save a few bucks.

Trumpers rides(boardwalk and inlet), hotel pool and ice cream for the 3.5 year old.

Arcades, mini golf, Jolly Rodgers Amusement, walk the boards for the 10 and 16 year old.

Don%26#39;t worry you%26#39;ll be able to find something to do.

Make sure you go to Trimper%26#39;s Rides.. They might not be around after this year :-( This place is good for ALL the family (seriously).

Thanks for the input everyone!
