Long weekend trip...help needed!

My husband is currently deployed, but will be back sometime in July. We would like to go away for a long weekend (Friday-Sunday) and stay in a beach area. Since we%26#39;re from the Jersey Shore (southern part), MD is closeby. We were thinking about Ocean City, but were hoping for some other recommendations. Basically, we%26#39;re looking to stay in a beach town and to relax, shop, and eat at great restaurants. I would love to walk around shops in a quaint beach town, but not sure where that would be.

Thanks!

check into the delaware beach towns.

rehoboth might be exactly what you%26#39;re looking for, (quaint, a real town with a good sized year round population, great little shops on %26amp; around the ';avenue'; %26amp; great restaurants)....but look into lewes %26amp; bethany beach as well....

dewey beach isn%26#39;t quaint, but it%26#39;s walking distance to rehoboth if you can%26#39;t find accomodations there.

I second DOGMOM%26#39;s suggestion of the DE beaches. Rehoboth or Bethany Beach seem right up your alley. Both are more low key than Ocean City (which is more like Wildwood or Seaside Heights in NJ). You will find many more places to stay in Rehoboth or Dewey Beach than Bethany, but all could meet your needs.

Vote number 3 for Rehoboth! Love it there. Sounds exactly like what you are looking for. It%26#39;s actually very similar to Cape May but ALOT less expensive.

if you DO decide on rehoboth...make sure your hotel is in town %26amp; not out on the highway. parking is very difficult in town in july, %26amp; it%26#39;s not walkable from route 1 hotels to downtown.

if you can%26#39;t find a hotel in town in rehoboth, it%26#39;d be a better option to stay in dewey, use the beach there %26amp; walk or take the ';jolly trolley'; into rehoboth for shopping %26amp; strolling.
