anyone? Its on Rt. 1 near the racetrack.
Has the Sleep Inn in Laurel opened yet?
It%26#39;s on the Choice Hotels website and accepting reservations for tonight, so I%26#39;d assume it is.
Has the Sleep Inn in Laurel opened yet?
Yes, the hotel is now open. See choicehotels.com/ires/en-US/html/HotelInfo… for information about the hotel.
I believe I saw a sign in front of it saying it was open. Concerning the webpage one of the others posted. I wouldn%26#39;t believe some of the things it claims. Camden Yards is at least 40 minutes driving from the hotel. To me, that isn%26#39;t close. Also, isn%26#39;t Six Flags on the south side of D.C., if so, that isn%26#39;t what I would call nearby.
LOTR,
Regarding the webpage verbage, it is largely puffery, and ';close'; is a relative term that means different things under different circumstances. Hopefully folks reading this will realize that Camden Yards in downtown Baltimore and Verizon Center in downtown Washington are 40+ miles apart and make their own judgements about how you can be close to both. Better hotel webpages give specific distances to attractions when they name them.
Note that the hotel is 20 miles to Camden Yards, and most of this is at I-95 highway speed of 65 mph. So you should be able to make it in no more than 25 minutes, with no traffic. Six Flags is east of Washington, and again is 20 miles away at highway speed. If I wanted to go to a ballgame or amusement park, could only afford a room at the Sleep Inn and had a car, that would be close enough for me.
Tubman, you got me curious about how cheap Sleep Inn was. I checked for a 1 day stay and their rates were between $89 and $109. They were more expensive than the Ramada on MD-198. The Ramada is only 4 minutes tops from MD-295 and MD-295 is a straight shot into Baltimore.
With the Sleep Inn, you%26#39;d have to hope there wasn%26#39;t any traffic in Laurel too. To get to MD-95, I think the closest route would be to drive down to MD-198, turn right and drive up to MD-95. That%26#39;ll take you through 4 intersections vice 2 with the Ramada. You could take Route 1 to MD-32 and either cut over to MD-95 or MD-295 but that%26#39;ll still take you through 4 intersections plus it would be longer.
In my opinion, if MD DOT has trains running from Laurel train station for Oriole games, it would be better to take a train to Camden Yards vice driving. Do you know if MD DOT runs trains for Oriole games? The only trains I know they run out of Laurel are commuter trains.
In your opinion, is MD-95 better than MD-295 for getting into Baltimore?
There is no MARC rail service specifically designed for Orioles games. The trains don%26#39;t run on the weekends. The rush hour-only schedules mean you can get a train to a weekday evening game from Laurel, but getting home is by bus only to Savage or Greenbelt.

95 vs. 295? Depends on conditions at the particular moment. I rely on my Sirius radio for traffic reports, usually there%26#39;s something wrong on one or the other.
On a weekday, I left the Sleep Inn in Laurel during AM rush hour, drove north on US 1 and then cut over to 95 on 32 to get to BWI. No problems and the and the trip was 20 minutes..
