fun activities for a history teacher

My best friend and I will be celebrating my 30th birthday in Baltimore the weekend of June 16th.

Any advice on what we should do to entertain ourselves? She%26#39;s from California and I live in DC. Neither of us has spent much time in Baltimore. She%26#39;s the history teacher and likes historical sites and funny tourist sights. I like trying out cute restaurants and hanging out in coffee shops.

Any thoughts much appreciated. Thank you!

You don%26#39;t say whether you have access to a car or not but the following are all walkable or a short cab ride away from Inner Harbor area. For your history fan- Fort McHenry, B+O Railroad Museum, Visionary Arts Museum, Museum of Industry, and Babe Ruth House. Try ';The Ave'; for the fun shops and a Baltimore Favorite - Cafe Hon. Fells Point would be good for both- some history and also good bars/pubs. Federal Hill- restored homes and lots of cafes, restaurants and shops.

anga mentioned a lot of the best.

i might add...steve geppi%26#39;s museum of entertainment, which is located somewhere above the ';sports legends at camden yards';...i haven%26#39;t been there yet, but i want to go! just read an article about it %26amp; it sounds very fun! lots of old comic book memoribilia %26amp; such.

something nobody ever seems to mention...and i%26#39;ve never really been there, is the flag house ...where the flag was sewn that inspired francis scott key to write our national anthem, your friend might like that

maybe the walters art gallery as well...it%26#39;s nice.

my personal favorite of ';funny tourist sites'; is just looking at the ';chessie'; paddleboats in the inner harbor. they make me grin every time for some reason, i love those things.

oh, well...you didn%26#39;t say if your history teacher was an art aficianodo especially....

but the baltimore museum of art is also wonderful...lots there to see.....the replica of the Cone sisters apartment is really cool...and lots of other good stuff...

i like the miniatiure rooms %26amp; it%26#39;s also very nice to see the ';woodlawn vase'; that is the trophy for the winner of the preakness stakes

another thought...

off subject a bit.....please forgive me, editors!

when you find a true friend......keep that friend for life!

I%26#39;d skip the railroad museum unless you are a railfan, it%26#39;s not as big as I thought.
