My husband %26amp; I, two mature, fish loving adults -- will be visiting Philedelphia and Virginia in the summer. Am considering stopping to see the aquarium as well. Have visited many other such facilities -- so am wondering if it is worth the time/$$. We would make a two night stay out of our visit and see a few sights as well. Otherwise, Baltimore will be on a different trip.
Thanks
aquarium? worth the visit?
';Worth the visit'; is very subjective--I will say that being fish fans, you should definitely see it at some point in your life. But given your existing travel plans, you%26#39;ll probably do just as well seeing the New Jersey State Aquarium on your visit to Philadelphia. (Just across the river in Camden.)
aquarium? worth the visit?
i have no idea how the baltimore one compares with others you[ve seen...i myself like it a lot, though. i like the wrap-around shark tanks, and the ray tank....
still looking forward to seeing the new australian outback exhibit!
but tubman%26#39;s right, it%26#39;s all subjective. i think baltimore%26#39;s is really good...but i%26#39;ve only seen a few others %26amp; don%26#39;t have much basis for comparison.
Having been to several aquariums I would say that the Baltimore Aquarium is not the best. (I would actually say that Monterey Bay Aquarium was the best I have seen in the US). If you decided to stop in Baltimore I think there are better things that would be more worth your time and money that would also be more exclusive to Baltimore.
I have been to about seven aquariums across the U.S. I have to say that since the New Jersey State Aquarium renovated last year, it is among the best (and I%26#39;m not biased becasue I live in NJ!).
My husband and I still take our son to the Baltimore Aquarium once a year too because we like Baltimore. Remember, it is a two hour drive from Philadelphia. So, unless your up for the drive, I would just hop across the river and see the NJ Aquarium.
How far is the drive to the NJ aquarium?
NJ State Aquarium: From Center City Philadelphia, about ten minutes. From Baltimore, about two hours.
