Trimper's Haunted House, Pirates Cove in Jeopardy?

With the recent news of the Trimpers possibly selling off their property and folding up shop after this year, it has occurred to me that we will loose two of the most complete Bill Tracy attractions left on the East Coast. Perhaps the rides could be bought and moved into new buildings? I would hate to see these classics go. These types of rides will never again be seen in parks.

This is a shame, my 5 yr old daughter loves going there and it is great for rainy days..

There aren%26#39;t many dark rides left on beaches anymore. Wildwood, NJ lost several over the years including former Hunt%26#39;s Pier%26#39;s Whacky Shack ride and Pirate Ship walkthrough, also built by Bill Tracy and the Castle Dracula walkthrough and boat ride. This year, the abandoned since 1983 Dr. Blood%26#39;s House of Horror 2-level dark ride on Sportland Pier, N. Wildwood was torn down January. In Myrtle Beach, the Haunted Hotel ride at the former Pavilion Park was torn down a while ago this year. I don%26#39;t like all these small businesses and hotels being lost for $1 million condos that only the rich can afford. It%26#39;s happening in Wildwood, where over 100 1950%26#39;s, 1960%26#39;s motels and restaurants were torn down between 2002-2006 for new condominiums. And I don%26#39;t like the loss of longtime amusement parks and dark rides, either. They better find a way to save the Haunted House and Pirate%26#39;s Cove rather than sending them to amusement park heaven. Also the Golden Nugget Mine Ride on the former Hunt%26#39;s Pier, Wildwood, NJ faces an uncertain future. It was closed since Sept. 1998, it was built in 1960. Hunt%26#39;s Pier was home to several unique Bill Tracy attractions which were torn down 1989 (Jungleland and Skua Pirate Ship) and the Whacky Shack (early 1996) and Keystone Kops (1995). Dorney Park by me once had Bill Tracy dark rides, but 2 burned 1973, 1983, Whacky Shack walk in Dec 73, and Bucket O%26#39; Blood ride Sept 1983 it had the pirate on top like Pirate%26#39;s Cove and it was called Pirate%26#39;s Cove from 1962-1974, but it was a ride-through. The old mill chute Journey to the Center of the Earth was torn down following 1992 after Cedar Fair got the park, and the Iceberg/Meteorite PTC cuddle-up after 1993. Bob Ott, former president and chairman of Dorney Park from 1967-May 1985, passed away Mar. 3. His wife Sally passed Feb. 14. He started working at Dorney Park in 1936. And, William ';Bud'; Hunt of Hunt%26#39;s Pier Wildwood, passed March 1991 and his manager Vincent Kostek between 1957-1985 passed last June 06. Hunt sold the pier fall 1985. We%26#39;re losing the old timers that ran some great parks in their glory days. Thank God all the Trimper%26#39;s are still there. I hope Trimper%26#39;s doesn%26#39;t wind up like Hunt%26#39;s Pier or other parks that changed ownership or closed.
