Motels in Annapolis

My family and I are planning a trip to Annapolis this summer. Is one Motel and/or location better than another? I am always concerned with staying in an area that is secluded and not safe.

Motels in Annapolis

The only motel/hotel in Annapolis that I would conisder unsafe is the Annapolis Villager Lodge, which is a total dive. The Quality Inn, Comfort Inn, and Super 8 are a bit selcuded, but the areas are safe enough. There are differing degrees of convenience in the remaining hotels / motels. Hotels downtown such as the Marriott and the Historic Inns are most convenient, but many outlying hotels offer shuttles, which improve their conveniece. So for the price, they might be better values.

I agree about the Villager Inn, a former Howard Johnson that has seen its better days. The Quality Inn doesn%26#39;t sound too good either. If you want to be near the attractions and sights, there is the Marriott, Loews, and O%26#39;Callaghan hotels if you are willing to pay the extra price. If you don%26#39;t mind driving to the attractions, you might consider the Country Inn %26amp; Suites, Hampton Inn, or even the Sheraton. A Hilton Garden Inn is under construction and is scheduled to open in early June 2007. Hope this helps.

Thank-you for your reply. I have checked a few of the listing hotels. The problem I am now having is finding a motel/hotel that will accept my 11 lb. dog. Have any suggestions?

loews hotels are extremely pet-friendly. from their website:

';Loews Loves PetsSpecial treatment for both pets and their owners begins with a personal note from the general manager with information on hotel pet services, local dog-walking routes, and area pet services, like veterinarians, pet shops, groomers, and much more. We%26#39;re the most pet friendly hotels around, and you%26#39;ll realize it from the moment you and your pet check in. All pets receive their own gifts including a bowl and a special treat to start their vacation. Additional items available for guests with pets include dog and cat beds (different sizes), leashes and collars (different sizes), rawhide bones, catnip, scratch pole, pet video, litter boxes and litter, pooper scoopers. We pay special attention our guest rooms, which accommodate pets. Therefore, a $25 charge may be assessed to guests traveling with pets. (Except Loews Miami Beach Hotel)

Note: Loews Hotels may limit the number of pets per room and in the hotel overall. Loews Hotels takes all necessary measures to ensure the safety and comfort of all hotel guests and pets.';

we actually stayed at the miami beach one a couple years ago %26amp; saw a number of dogs. but the most astounding thing was the ';pet'; section on the room service menu. not only dog %26amp; cat food...steaks, grilled fish LOL...all outrageously priced of course. fun to read, though!

this site lists a couple more:

We stayed 2 nights at the Loews in March....very very satisfied and it is definitely pet friendly. They also have a shuttle that will take you where you need to be within a few miles. The Loews is a leisurely 10 minute walk to the main shopping area of Annapolis, and a 5 minute walk to the state capitol.

All of Annapolis is very safe; but you are right, with a city like this, you do not want to be secluded. It is very walkable and that is the thing to do. Depending on the make up of your ';family';, there are several places that will not take children under a certain age. You will need to check in to this. Also, as with any city, price will determine where you will stay. For sheer convenience and price, check out the Historic Inns of Annapolis, Scott Lor Inn (sp?) and the State House Inn. If you want to stay in a place with more luxury, check out Loews, O%26#39;Callahan%26#39;s or one of the many wonderful B%26amp;B%26#39;s.

I like the Country Inn and Suites on Housely Road. Safe area.

If you are driving, it is not far from downtown Annapolis,

As I noted in another reply, when you turn left out of this hotel,

you can stay on that road (it will change names to Bestgate Road

and the, as you enter Annapolis, Rowe Blvd) crossing over

Generals Hwy. and putting you on Bestgate Road (the Annapolis

mall will be on your right after you go through the traffic light) and

then going under Rt. 50, it becomes Rowe Blvd.

Parking is very bad in Annpolis as usual, but is worse during the

summer. And they have meter maids all over town.

On your right is the Naval Academy stadium and you can park there and take the shuttle into Annapolis, Go to the harbormasters building for touring information.

Dress comfortably it is very hot in August in Annapolis. There is so

much to see.
