How close?

Hi fellow travellers: I am hoping to travel to ocean city with my 4 children, grandma and self, 2 of my children are 3 yrs old. I was hoping to stay at the Spinnaker hotel, I was wondering how far to the boardwalk, eateries etc is it, within walking distance for my young brood or too far away, the reviews don%26#39;t really go into detail in regards to this, thanks for any help!!!!!!(dates of travel July16-20,07)

Fluffy:

The Spinaker is located directly on the Boardwalk.

The Boardwalk runs from the inlet (southern end) north to 26th street.

Ending on 26th street which puts you 8 blocks from the northern end.

You could either walk, or there is a tram (shuttle) that runs up and down the Boardwalk all day which you could take if the walk were to far.

Hard to say how far for meals depending on what meal and the type of food. There are places to eat all over, snack bars, pizza shops, breakfast, lunch and dinner.

If you wanted to try a particular place you might have to drive if not there should be food to find right around your hotel.

18th street is a good location as the southern end of the Boardwalk can get loud and busy into the late hours.

You are a little north of all the main action but close enough.

Have a safe an enjoyable trip.

Actually, the Spinnaker is not DIRECTLY on the boardwalk, it is right behind a small condo building, so it is literally steps right off the boardwalk. You don%26#39;t have to cross any streets to get onto the boardwalk, but it is not direct oceanfront. I thought I should point that out if you were expecting an oceanfront/boardwalk view directly from your hotel room. We typically stay at the Sahara (which is right next to the Spinnaker) so I can tell you that it is in a nice location on the boardwalk, but with three year olds, you may need to take the tram or bus in at least one direction to or from the major amusements at the far end of the boardwalk (about 20 blocks away). But there are plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance of the Spinnaker (pizza and coffee shops, drug stores, t-shirt places, Subway, Phillips Restaurant). Have a nice trip!

Although the boardwalk runs from the inlet to, i believe 28th street, the real ';action'; - attractions, shops and food are between the inlet and about 8-10th street. You will have no problem finding something to eat. There are restaurants everywhere, some good, some ok, some bad. There is one main road ';coastal highway'; that runs from north to south. there is a good bus system, that you pay one amount for the day. The streets are numbered 1st to 145th south to north. There are lots of free news papers filled with adds for restaurants and other things to do. It is a very touristy resort, but you won%26#39;t get bored. Hope you have fun.
