First time in Ocean City MD- looking for advice

Hi all-

My friend and I plan on going to Ocean City for a weekend this summer. We%26#39;re 30 and looking for a relaxing weekend on the beach and also a night or two out at a fun bar. I heard Secrets is a good time but that%26#39;s all the info I have. Does anyone know of a nice hotel located close to Secrets, or in close proximity to the bars?

Any info is greatly appreciated!!!!!

Below is my favorite Ocean City web site--it might help you find what you are looking for. If you can afford it, I think staying at a place on the boardwalk is the greatest! Below 8th Street is kinda rowdy and crowded at night. The 9th Street and above gets quieter but nicer. It all depends what you are looking for. Staying on the ocean side (rather than bayside) is more convenient if you plan to be on the beach much. Have fun!

For you 1st time I recommend staying down near the action, 9st and below. Park Place (3rd) and Tidelands(5th), I would check out them first. Both ot them have pools and a pool bar/restuarant wih great atmosphere. You don%26#39;t need to be close to Secreats to enjoy it. You can ride the bus for $2.00 a day all day if need to. There are a few hot spot on the boardwalk in walking distance, Purple Moose bar on the boards and the Plim Plaza pool bar is always packed in the evening. There is a few taverns down towards the inlet on Dorchester St. for a lesser crowd. Plenty of things to do in the evening after a day on the beach: Fish Tales Bar %26amp; Restaurant, The Party Block, BJ%26#39;s On The Water just to name a few. Check out this link for ideas:http://www.ocean-city.com/nightlife/index.html

You have your choice of hotel pool or the ocean water, then can enjoy a early drink at your hotel pool bar.

A few hotels to check out are the Park Place Hotel(2nd) The Tidelands Caribbean(5th)The Hilton(31st)Comfort Suites(West OC)

Holiday Inn 17th, and the Francis Scott Key which has a waterpark.

Seacrets is definetly a good choice!!! Like a previous poster said,

check out www.ocean-city.com

Some museums to go to is Ripley%26#39;s Believe it or Not!! on the boardwalk with the big shark hanging out of the building. See and explore weird happenings! The Ocean City Live Saving Station Museum at the end of the Pier. Learn about the past of Ocean City!!

The party block is also a good bar which I think is between 17th and 21st?

Hope this helps!!!

Depending on what time of year you go, Seacrets can be way too crowded, and you could waste hours waiting in line. It is a very cool bar/restaurant - great jerk chicken and the PITA%26#39;s (pain in the a$$) drink is very tasty. You may want to go for happy hour and hit another bar at night.

Fish tales is good, Macky%26#39;s is cool, Fager%26#39;s Island all have plenty of outdoor seating with either a deck or sandy beach.

Get a ';Beachcomber';, ';Coconut Times';, etc free local paper for ads and specials.

Staying downtown can be annoying if you don%26#39;t want to be kept up all night. If that%26#39;s what you%26#39;re looking for, then downtown is where you want to be.
