W e are from québec and are going in ocean city for the first time, we are staying at fsk resort and they did%26#39;nt recommend us to bring our bike because of the bridge and highway (we have 2 kids age 4 and 5).I%26#39;m not able to find specific information about biking, and my english is not good enough for me to call. Can someone tell me if it%26#39;s really a bad idea to bring our bicycle?

it would be a really bad idea to try to ride in ocean city itself, yes, especially with little kids.....very very dangerous.
however, if you%26#39;re interested in riding for recreation rather than transportation, there are some places not TOO far off you could drive to...assateague perhaps or cape henlopen state park in delaware.
or just on the boardwalk early in the morning, can%26#39;t remember what the hours are that bikes are allowed.
but don%26#39;t even think about riding on the highway.

As the prev writer explained the highway your hotel is on would be dangerous four biking with your children. However, I would definitely bring them with you. You could drive over the bridge into Ocean City and take great bike rides on the boradwalk in the early a.m. Also as prev. mentioned Assateague State Park would be really fun with kids. I think you would get alot of use out of them while you were there.
you could also consider renting bikes to ride on the boardwalk. there are rental places everywhere. but as previous writers have said, riding on the highway is extremely dangerous with reckless drivers and tons of speeders.
By you saying you are staying at the ';fsk resort';, I assume you mean the Francis Scott Key resort. Yes, that stretch of Rt. 50 from your hotel across the bridge and into OC proper, less than one mile, is quite congested and dangerous. There is no designated bike lane going across the bridge.
Are your 4 and 5 year old riding with you or do they have their own bicycles? I would not recommend them riding their own bicycle except on the boardwalk.
As others have said, just drive across the Rt. 50 bridge into OC, park your car and ride on the boardwalk. Bicycles are allowed on the boardwalk from 5am to 10am, May 1 to September 30. If you are avid bikers, then think about riding from your hotel down to Assateague to see the wild ponies. Assateague is about 8 miles south on Rt. 611 from the Francis Scott Key. Rt. 611 is much less congested and has very wide shoulders on the sides of the travel lanes...plenty safe for bicycles.

Thanks so much for your advice, can wait to see what it looks like, every one is talking about assteague, we will try it for sure

I have to disagree.
I%26#39;m from Ontario and last year I packed my bike and my 6 and 8 yr olds bikes and am glad I did. There are plenty of side roads and parks you can find. We went relatively early in the mornings. Stopped at Dunkin donuts for breakfast and found a wonderful park off the beaten track we would have otherwise missed. The back streets are empty in the AM and of course there is always the boardwalk.
Take the bikes.
