For Irish Fan

Thanks for you prompt reply. Sorry I was not more clear with my question.

We are interested in seeing some of the sights in Baltimore, not just Inner Harbor. Is it safe to do this?

Thanks

For Irish Fan

It%26#39;s as safe as any other city. What type of sights are you looking for in Baltimore?

tickets

The best tickets, that I could get, for the Orioles and Red Sox game April 25th,were Section 65 row E seats 13,14 and 15.

Are these ok ? Hopefully no obstructed view. Now a search for a hotel.

Thanks for the help. Any other info is appreciated.

You thanked me for my original post, I only assumed you read it. :-)

One fan%26#39;s opinion: this is an instance where you%26#39;re paying more money in exchange for a worse seat, in spite of what the Orioles website claims are the ';best available.'; Yes, Sec. 65 is closer to the field, but it%26#39;s much closer to the foul pole than it is to home plate and the seats face straight out towards the outfield, so you%26#39;re continually turning your neck to see the action at home plate. Less expensive tickets behind the plate towards the front of Sec. 340, as mentioned in my earlier post, are still available as of this writing.

Outside food and water is allowed at Camden Yards...buy your Cokes and water and peanuts outside...The Otterbein Church has a peanut vendor and everything they sell goes to church programs and to assist the poor...Find them on Conway St...just outside the church.

There is a brand new Hampton In right across from the Yards...expect rooms to be expensive at that time...

As to your seats...different strokes for different folks...I believe you should have taken Tubman%26#39;s advice....

  • balt to DC guided tour?

Does anyone know if there are any guided tours of DC departing from the inner harbor? I%26#39;ve read about taking the train to Union station, but am intimidated to do the tour thing ourselves.

    balt to DC guided tour?

    I wouldn%26#39;t knock yourself out looking for a specific guided tour leaving from Baltimore. Get yourself to Union Station (easily done on the train, frequently described in this forum). Many D.C. tours leave from there--either as a starting point or as a stop on a ';loop.';

A Sunday night dinner in Baltimore

Hi, My husband and I will be staying at the Marriot Waterfront to visit our college age son, for one night, as we travel home to NY from a trip to the west coast. The timing will be tight because our flight%26#39;s not scheduled to arrive until 6:00 pm. By the time we gather our luggage and check into the hotel, etc. we will need simple, uncomplicated plans for an 8:00/8:30 dinner near the hotel. My son and husband like seafood, steak, salad bar type food, so I thought the Rusty Scupper might be our best bet. I%26#39;d like to keep the price somewhat moderate. Please advise me if there is a better, or more convenient option.

    Thank you,

    Jane

The food and service at Rusty Scupper is average on a good day. They aren%26#39;t worth the price.

I would recommend McCormick and Schmick%26#39;s or Houlihan%26#39;s. They are both located at the Inner Harbor, have great food and terrific service.

A Sunday night dinner in Baltimore

You are staying in a newly revitalized area known as Inner Harbor East. James Joyce, an Irish pub with excellent food, is next to your hotel. There are several other casual places in the immediate area. It is an easy walk to Little Italy, I recommend Amicci%26#39;s for casual food. They have an extraordinary shrimp appetizer. Fells Point is as close as the Rusty Scupper (which I don%26#39;t recommend). Check out John Stevens for excellent seafood.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my inquiry. I will definitely look into each of the suggestions that were offered.

I ate at John Stevens in Fells Point when my husband and I were in Baltimore this past November and it was excellent. We shared some very tasty mussels as an appetizer. I had a delicious filet of mahi mahi and my husband loved his seafood pasta - his was really great with large shrimp, scallops and jumbo lump crabmeat. Just wanted to mention that the table next to us ordered crabcakes and they were HUGE - and looked wonderful. When we go back to Baltimore, I%26#39;m definitely getting those crabcakes next time. I can%26#39;t remember if there was steak on the menu, there might have been one beef offering, but it is definitely more of a seafood place. Nice atmosphere in the back dining room - casual and comfortable. If memory serves me correctly, the entrees were pretty much under $20, which for seafood is great. Highly recommend this local gem.

Anything Open on Board Walk this time of Year?

    Hi

I have never been to Ocean City and was thinking about going there next weekend.

Any suggestions for a nice hotel on the ocean would be great.

And any suggestions for best place to stay near dining and entertainment would be great too.

    Thanks in advance!

I would suggest you check with several of the hotel sites this one included and run your travel dates to check availability and then you can pick which hotel/motel to stay in.

I would also suggest you check the weather as it can affect the quality of your visit as most of the activities to enjoy are outside.

One of the newer hotels on the beach is the Hilton located around 30th street near the northern end of the Boardwalk.

It is one of the more expensive hotels in OC.

You also have the Dunes Manor on 28th oceanfront with indoor pool.

As for nightlife the two best known places are Seacrets on 49th and bayside and Fager%26#39;s Island located on 60th and bayside.

OC runs north to to south from lowest street numbers to highest as you go north.

The Boardwalk runs from the southern most end along the oceanfront up to 26th street.

Then OC continues to the Del. line at 144th street.

This time of year traffic should be light and driving through town should be no rpoblem going from place to place.

Going from ocean to bay side (west) is in most areas just 4 blocks.

I will provide you with a few other sites where you can check for rooms online.

    Any questions feel free.

Have a safe and enjoyable trip.

This site will provide you with some information about OC and the area.

This time of year depending on the weather on the weekends you will find many shops, places to eat, and attractions open along the Boardwalk.

    Hampton Inn at Camden Yards

Have any of you, stayed at the Hampton Inn at Camden Yards? Found a good rate and needed to know if the rooms were large enough for three woman. And any other info would be helpful.

    Thankyou

I haven%26#39;t stayed at this hotel but do know that it is brand new (opened in December 2006). Someone had asked a similar question not too long ago (see link below) that you might find to be helpful.

My 17 year old son is due to train at Piney Point, MD. I can%26#39;t find any info for trains or bus, closest is D.C.

    piney point md

That%26#39;s a tough one--unfortunately, there are no trains and buses can%26#39;t go everywhere. The area you%26#39;re describing is too far for commuter buses from Washington and too small and isolated to get Greyhound-type service. If nobody on this forum can do any better, the closest definite I could find was the MTA commuter bus from D.C. to the town of California, about 14 miles away. I suspect one of the taxi services in nearby Lexington Park could do the rest.

Just out of curiosity, what do your son%26#39;s trainers suggest? Surely they deal with this on a regular basis and must have some private transportation arrangements available.

Thank you for the info tubman, his previous trainings were in places that he would be picked up at the airport, train or bus station.

I%26#39;ll contact the seamans school and get more info, didn%26#39;t get to that point yet. Thanks again.
