Transport from Airport to the Harborplace

Hi,

We will be arriving at Baltimore airport and need some advice on the best and safest method of travelling to our hotel on the harbor place. Also if we chose to take a taxis what would the price be.

Kind regards,

Bill

Transport from Airport to the Harborplace

I would definitely do a taxi, should be only around $20.00 or so

Transport from Airport to the Harborplace

Supershuttle does a nice job of taking people to and from BWI. Their website is http://supershuttle.com. They should be able to give you an fare estimate on-line. Also, does your hotel have an airport shuttle? You might want to check and see. It could save you some money.

Bill,

Multiple Taxi travelers pay per ride, up to 4 people per cab...Shuttle travelers pay per person, so it it almost always a better deal to take the cab. Taxis are also ';private';...Shuttles jam as many in as possible. Current estimates show the taxi fare to be $23 into Baltimore....

BWI Airport uses a private and well kept Taxi service that serves only the airport...Highly recommended.

Thanks for all of the advice, however I%26#39;ve been told that the taxis out to the airport from the city are approximately $25 but from the airport into the city its over double at $60, can this be true for arriving visitors.

Regards,

Bill

Most taxi rides from BWI airport are required to be metered. The current estimated meter fare to hotels in the Inner Harbor area is now $28; it would only be substantially more if traffic is extremely heavy and the ride winds up taking much longer than the normal ~15 minutes.

I can%26#39;t imagine a driver would risk their license to operate by overcharging, but if you%26#39;re charged a flat rate (illegal for trips within Maryland) or more than what%26#39;s on the meter, you%26#39;ll want to get the driver%26#39;s name and license number (which should be visible in the taxi) and a receipt.

Thanks for the advice on the taxis fares, for a few extra dollars its a cab instead of the Super Shuttle, door to door and no sharing.

Regards,

Bill

Rental

I%26#39;m headed down to Ocean City with my wife for the first week of September and we were hoping to rent kayaks and jet skis once or twice during the week. What are good places to rent from? Anyone have some reasonable price guidelines? I%26#39;m thinking we%26#39;d rent kayaks on the bayside and then jet skis on the ocean, does that sound right? Any information (including places to stay away from) is appreciated.

Rental

Ocean City has become quite expensive, especially when you want to be right on the oceanfront. For weekly rentals you can check and book through Coldwell Bankers on the web site cbvacations.com. Many of the highrises in North OC are fairly old and the condos look accordingly. I know of one that is in a smaller Building on 112st str called The Rainbow. Nice clean building and somewhat away from the noise of dowtown. The unit we know is 502, brand new inside, fancy bathrooms and kitchen and very comfortable with a large balcony right on the dunes. Compared to what hotels charge for a direct ocean front unit, condos are still a better deal.

  • really cool sand story

I heard this before and I thinks its a great description of eternity. One person was asked the question what is eternity? and a wise man replied:

If you would give a bird just 1 grain of sand and the bird would fly to the fartherest part of heaven and drop the grain of sand and fly back to earth and do it again. When every grain of sand was gone that would be

    ';The First Tick Of The Clock';

ps: On my list of things to do this year down the Ocean

    ';I might try this'; lol

pss : It feels like eternity because most of you are not replying to my post lol

  • Ocean Downs RaceTrack

I am planning on being in OC mid-June...was thinking about checking out the racetrack (harness?) in Berlin....does anyone have any experiences there. Is it a nice place to have a bite and lay some fun bets. How is the food...are there huge crowds. Looking for feedback and experiences please...THANKS!

    Ocean Downs RaceTrack

Yes, it%26#39;s harness racing. If you%26#39;re a serious racing fan, the real attraction is the simulcasting from tracks all over the country.

I haven%26#39;t been for a few years, but the snack-type food was pretty good and didn%26#39;t try the buffet. This year, they%26#39;ve apparently got a few more upscale options. Check out their website, http://www.oceandowns.com for details.

Yeap, go and you%26#39;ll have some fun.

Parking near Marriott Inner Harbor/Camden Yard

My husband and I will be spending 3 nights at the Marriott Inner Harbor at Camden Yard, 110 S. Eutaw Street. Any suggestions for free or cheaper than the hotel parking near there?

Parking near Marriott Inner Harbor/Camden Yard

I use the Marriott parking to go to my drs who are at 2 S Paca Street. If there is better parking, I would love to know about it. It is right in the UMD area so I doubt that there is.

Parking near Marriott Inner Harbor/Camden Yard

There is parking just blocks north of the hotel on Paca St at Lexington Market. It becomes a little less safe, but may save you a few $. I would strongly suggest using the hotel garage which is about $20 per night.

The garages at Lexington Market creep me out during the day - I can%26#39;t imagine leaving my car there overnight!

Thank you all for your insight. It sounds like the extra money at the hotel will be worth it to ensure our safety!

    Sahara Tower bldg

We booked the Sahara tower bldg. for Sunfest. Has anyone got any feed back on this place? I drive a full sized truck and am wondering about parking! Some reviews are great to so-so to outright horrible! Help!!!

    Sahara Tower bldg

We have stayed in the Sahara Oceanfront building, and will be doing so again this year. Overall, I would say the building is older, but clean and maintained. The pools are clean and not very crowded, and the on-site cafe is a plus. As far as the parking, I%26#39;m not 100% sure where the Tower building parks, but the oceanside lot is tight (like most older hotels). If would be OK if it were all cars, but it is mostly filled with SUVs. We drive a full-size van, and my husband wasn%26#39;t thrilled with the lot, but we didn%26#39;t have any problems. Actually, if you do a search on my screen name (czang76), you can find my review of the Sahara and a photo I posted of the oceanside lot. Enjoy Sunfest, fellow Pittsburgher!
